Handmade & Bound Nashville 2014 is the fourth edition of our annual festival celebrating the art of handcrafted zines, artists’ books, and all things book arts. The festival will feature vendors, demonstrations, a gallery exhibition, and of course, food. Vendors will set-up indoors at Watkins College of Art, Design & Film, with the option of setting up in designated areas outside, adjacent to the building. Demonstrations and participatory activities will take place both inside and out, with food trucks providing nourishment. The festival date is Saturday, October 4, 2014 preceded by opening events Friday, October 3.
Handmade & Bound Nashville has citywide advertising for the event and, in addition to sponsors, the Library at Watkins and Watkins Community Education, supporters include local businesses and the William N. Rollins Fund for the Arts of The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee. We are all really excited about this event and working hard to make the fourth annual Handmade & Bound Nashville the biggest yet. We look forward to working with interested local and regional book artists, zinesters, paper and print makers and other vendors of bookish things. This festival is a true opportunity to develop camaraderie within the artists’ book/zine community and we hope you will consider participating. The concentration of the festival is in book arts and small presses. All applications are welcome, but 75% of your work should be related to book arts or printmaking in some capacity. If you have questions regarding the festival and the application process please contact Lisa Williams.
