Call to Artists
Handmade & Bound Nashville Gallery Exhibition, Stitches + Stories
Exhibition Dates: September 30-October 14
Submission Deadline: August 30
We are accepting submissions for inclusion in our Stitches + Stories exhibition. Handmade & Bound Nashville is accepting work that will accompany artist books created during a series of collaborative workshops with various local community groups in Nashville. During these workshops participants will create an artist book filled with original poetry and collage artwork inspired by the healing power of art and storytelling. Local book artists, writers, and artists are invited to submit their own pieces that tell their own stories or that encourage interaction from the viewer. Special consideration will be given to artists that incorporate fiber art into their creative practice.
For information about vendor registration for the Handmade + Bound Nashville festival, visit our Vendor Registration page.
Work can be individual pieces or artists’ books or artwork based on memory, storytelling and healing. Handmade & Bound Nashville is a family friendly festival and we will have viewers of all ages interacting with work in the gallery. Works of art will be returned after the exhibition’s run.
To submit a work to the Stitches + Stories gallery exhibition, please send an image of your piece and a short artist statement to Watkins Community Education at firstname.lastname@example.org with the subject line “Stitches + Stories Submission”.
*Handmade & Bound Nashville is a family friendly event. Submissions that contain violence or other adult subject matter will not be accepted.
The deadline for submissions is August 30. Artists will be notified of their inclusion on a case by case basis.
Accepted artists must then send their artwork to Watkins College of Art, Design & Film by Friday, September 23.
